The purpose of this project is to move the existing data warehouse and reports from WVU Foundation platforms to WVU main platforms replicating current state, as-is, to remove all dependencies on WVU Foundation for reporting and analytics. This project is expected to be complete in Q3 2023.
The purpose of this project is to move the existing data warehouse and reports from WVU Foundation platforms to WVU main platforms. Project highlights include:
- Created the initial data model within the Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse using the existing Legacy Ideas Data Warehouse structure as a starting point while anticipating expansion to additional data domains.
- Completed a Snowflake Data Warehouse reorganization:
- Created naming convention standards for Data Warehouse tables.
- Created naming convention standards for Data Warehouse columns.
- Standardized Data types for common fields in Data Warehouse tables and successfully implemented this new model.
- Created Reference / Lookup tables and populated these with data to eliminate hard coding of downstream processes.
- Discovered multiple tables used for similar purposes that contained disparate data. We eliminated the duplication while creating a Single Source of Truth for that information.
- Leveraged the Informatica Integration framework to fulfill our Data requirements.
- Ongoing data curing and enriching and working with data owners/data sources to resolve issues.
- Existing Institutional Reporting HEPC Processes have been rewritten to leverage the Informatica Integration Framework processing and pushing the resultant data into the new Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse data model.
- Migration of WVU’s Tableau Analytics from the Foundation’s environment into the new Tableau Cloud environment.
- Decommission our Data Structure and Data within the Foundation’s Snowflake environment.
The goal of this project is to move existing data warehouse and reports from WVUF platforms to WVU Main platforms replicating current state, as-is, to remove all dependencies on WVUF for reporting and analytics.
