Dear Mountaineers,
West Virginia University is reimagining business as usual. Through the Modernization Program, we are laying the foundation for a more connected, efficient, and future-ready university. This effort reaches every corner of campus life — from how we engage prospective students to how we manage research and how we support faculty and staff in their work.
We already have important progress to celebrate. The new MyWVU Portal is streamlining the application process for future students on every campus, making it easier than ever to become a Mountaineer. The WVU Research Administration Portal (WRAP) initiative is improving the efficiency of research administration, helping WVU remain at the forefront of discovery and innovation. Behind the scenes, we are building a more unified approach to data, ensuring leaders across the University have an accurate and reliable single source of truth to guide decisions.
After two years of foundational work, the Workday Business Modernization initiative is gaining steam. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to refine our processes and unify our core systems for human capital management (talent & culture), finance, and budget planning. Workday will do more than replace outdated, disconnected technology platforms: It will eliminate manual and duplicative work, improving efficiency and freeing us up to focus on the things that will make WVU the land-grant university of the future.
- Faculty and staff will spend less time wrestling with forms and systems, and more time focused on teaching, research, student success, and service.
- Everyday tasks from travel reimbursements to time-off requests will be simpler, faster and mobile-friendly.
- Leaders will have real-time insights and data to guide WVU into the future.
This journey is not only about technology; it‘s about you. Hundreds of your colleagues are already helping to design new processes and systems, ensuring they reflect the needs of our community now and in the future. And over the next two years, you will have opportunities to get involved through feedback sessions, testing, training and more. That includes a brief survey you can expect to receive around Oct. 15. By Summer 2027, when Workday officially launches, every member of our community will feel the impact — and be prepared to thrive.
Change on this scale is ambitious. Together, we are building a future in which WVU is more agile, more connected, and better equipped to fulfill our purpose for decades to come.
Thank you in advance for your support, your openness and curiosity, and your commitment to building a stronger foundation for our future.
Let’s go!
